Calibration markers: guidance for subjects

Calibration markers are small, standardised stickers that the study team spreads across the image over the skin, never over the lesion. They let the Legit.Health platform measure affected area accurately, including its area and perimeter, from the image.

What the markers are for

The markers give the platform a known reference in the photograph. Using them, the platform works out the real-world scale of the image and calibrates colour to allow for differences in lighting between visits, so your measurements stay accurate and comparable over time. You do not need to do anything technical: your study team places the markers and takes the photographs.

Your role during the visit

At your imaging visit, the study team will clean and dry the skin around the area, place several markers on healthy skin nearby, and take the photographs. To help them get a good image, please:

  • Stay still and hold the requested position while the photographs are taken.
  • Do not touch, cover, or move the markers once they are in place.
  • Keep the markers visible: do not let clothing, bandages, or hair cover them.

What to expect

The markers are single-use. The site staff will remove them for you once the photographs have been captured and uploaded.
