Better care for every member, starting at home.
Insurers use Legit.Health above all for the quality of care: each member sees the right specialist at the right time, and care can start with a photograph taken at home. Most combine several workflows; this page follows a skin check from the member's phone, with the capture inside the insurer's own app.
The workflows they combine
Four workflows, one report.
Many of these are the workflows a public health system uses too. What changes is that the member often takes the photograph, on their own phone.
Care that starts at home
Patients and members photograph the lesion on their own phone, guided step by step, without a trip to the clinic.
Only the patients who need a specialist are referred
Each case carries the need for referral, so dermatology sees the patients who need it, with the right urgency.
Serious conditions seen first
Suspected malignancy and urgent cases reach a specialist ahead of the queue, whatever the disease.
Teledermatology without the back-and-forth
The quality check refuses photographs that cannot be assessed, and every case arrives documented, so the dermatologist can decide at first sight.
Who is in the loop
Who does what.
The member takes the photograph and Legit.Health produces the report. The insurer's medical team reads it and decides.
- The member: opens the insurer's app, photographs the lesion with guidance, and is told whether the photograph was accepted and what the next step is.
- The insurer's app: hosts the embedded capture and receives the report through our app's API, without building a capture flow of its own.
- Legit.Health: checks the quality of each photograph and returns the report: the ranked differential, the referral and malignancy indexes, and the severity score when the condition has a validated scale.
- Care coordination: the insurer's healthcare professionals review the report and route the case: which specialist, and how soon.
- The specialist: receives a photographed, scored case with the report attached, in the time frame the routing chose.
One workflow, step by step
From a photograph at home to an appointment with the right specialist.
A skin check from the member's phone, in five steps from the photograph to the specialist appointment. The indexes order the work; the medical team makes the decisions.
- Capture, embedded: The member reaches the skin check inside the insurer's app. Our app is an iframe there, so it looks like the app around it.
- The quality check: A blurry or badly framed photograph is refused with a reason and a hint. The member retakes it. Only images that support a report go further.
- The report: Differential, indexes and severity reach the insurer's systems through our app's API, filed against the case, and appear in the medical team's queue in order of the referral index.
- The routing: A member of the insurer's medical team confirms where each case goes. To order the work, the insurer's rules turn the indexes into a proposal: a referral index above the threshold suggests a specialist in the priority time frame, below it a routine slot or a primary care contact, and a high entropy marks the case for a closer look.
- The feedback: The member sees that the photograph was accepted and what the next step is, in the insurer's words.
What Legit.Health contributes
The fields this workflow reads.
The values in the report put each case in order and suggest where it goes, so the medical team spends its time on decisions rather than on sorting photographs.
The insurer case study in the integration guide: a referral index above 30, or entropy above 50 (both out of 100), or a sign intensity grade above 1, proposes secondary care; the rest stays with primary care. The waiting-list workflow then orders the referred cases by referral index.
How it works
- The image quality check, so a case is never opened on a photograph nobody can read.
- The referral index, which suggests the specialist and the time frame.
- Entropy, which marks the uncertain cases for a closer look.
- A PDF of the report for the case file.
Who runs it this way
Insurers who put the capture in the member's hands.
Health insurers such as Sanitas, Adeslas and Cigna already work this way. The app takes you there, with its API carrying each report into your systems.
