Ribera Group Wins ABB Ability Award for AI Teledermatology Program
MADRID (November 13, 2024) — Ribera Group's teledermatology program won the ABB Ability Awards in the Large Enterprise category, recognizing the Spanish hospital operator's use of artificial intelligence to monitor skin disease patients remotely.
The award was presented at a ceremony at Espacio Ventas in Madrid. The ABB Ability Awards, now in their seventh year, recognize projects that use digital technology to advance sustainable development and business competitiveness.
Ribera's program uses software from Barcelona-based Legit.Health that analyzes photographs of skin conditions submitted by patients. The system enrolled 6,728 patients in 2024 and generated more than 15,200 diagnostic reports, according to the company.
Patients with conditions such as psoriasis, acne, hidradenitis suppurativa and atopic dermatitis submit photographs periodically. Dermatologists review the AI-analyzed images and adjust treatments without requiring patients to visit the hospital for routine appointments.
Esther Aucejo, digital project manager at Ribera Group, accepted the award.

Andy Aguilar, chief executive of Legit.Health, said the award validates that AI can improve healthcare operations at scale.

The teledermatology program was also named a finalist in the European Private Hospital Awards earlier this year.
Legit.Health's platform provides automated analysis of skin images, tracking disease severity and treatment response. The Barcelona company holds CE marking as a Class IIb medical device in Europe.
